This musical heritage inspired Jay J. Ra to pursue his dream of becoming an internationally recognized artist.

In 2009, Jay J. Ra migrated to Canada and continued his music education at York University. During his university years, he was part of the York University Gospel Choir and the Male Vocal Ensemble, refining his vocal abilities in both classical and contemporary styles.
Under his former stage name, D.bé Jayri, he released four albums starting in 2016. His debut EP, Soul Glimpse, was released in 2016, followed by his LP Glorious, Beautiful and Black in 2020.
